In Spring 2022, my partner and I embarked on an epic road trip across the United States. For 4 weeks, we traveled the country, visiting a total of 23 states, 7 National Parks, and dozens of campsites along the way.
After we reluctantly returned home, I created a series of 3 reduction prints inspired by my favorite places - the redwood forests in California, the shorelines of the Puget Sound in Washington, and the expansive plains of western Minnesota. Each print was made from hand-carved linocut blocks.
When we left for our trip, gas prices were at record highs and only going up - the most expensive gas from our trip was on Highway 1 near Big Sur ($7.75/gal) - and I definitely had not budgeted for that. I came up with the Art for Gas Money Exchange, where I asked followers on social media to chip in for gas money and promised to give them art in return. The limited edition original prints from this series are now in the hands of all the wonderful people who chipped in for gas money and helped on my travels. I wouldn’t have been able to see all those magnificent places without their support, and I am forever grateful.
Reproductions from this series are available in my web shop.
