espresso shots & forget-me-nots
poetry collection cover illustration
made with hands & heart
It’s not often that I get to use my hands for client work, but when I do, I enjoy every single minute of it!
I was thrilled to work on this cover illustration in collaboration with Parker Lee for her new book of poems - espresso shots & forget-me-nots.
Parker had a clear vision for the cover, and they wanted an illustration that looked distressed, handmade, and like you could reach out and touch it. To bring authentic texture to this illustration, I worked with my hands through a combination of skills & processes. The project started with a linocut print, then I added some watercolor embellishments, and once everything was dry, I scanned it all and worked some digital magic to make it suitable for a book cover.
It’s truly a joy to work with trans creators. It’s so uplifting to see our visions become a reality. Endless thanks to Parker for the opportunity!
